Longtime clients returned to us with a new challenge: to design a refined landscape for their urban townhome—one grounded in the spirit of the Texas vernacular, yet elevated in material and detail. We used darker, richer materials to create a timeless aesthetic in intimate spaces. The clients were deeply involved in the design process, and their investment of time and attention allowed us to incorporate personal elements that reflect how they use the spaces. Sculptural boulders serve as sitting spots to engage with neighbors. The crushed stone drive also serves as a space for large gatherings, with family-style tables set up for al fresco dining. A private raised patio acts as an outdoor den—casual, and comfortable. A fire feature anchors the space, inviting conversation and slowing the pace of daily life.
